Full Name: Mark Spencer Spiegel

Nicknames: Little Spiegs, Marcus, Marky

Education: Christian Brothers College High School, Class of 2003; Coursework at St. Louis Community Colleges and Ranken Tech

Job history: Started working in construction when he was just 15 years old. He gained exposure through side jobs to multiple stages of the construction process, including drywall, tile work, custom cabinetry and kitchen remodels.  While in highschool, Mark also worked at Waterway Carwash. After graduating, Mark worked with industry veteran Pat McKenna.  He spent time on projects all over Saint Louis- mostly remodeling, but additions as well.  Mark always knew he enjoyed fixing things- especially taking broken things apart and figuring out a better way to put them back together.  He completed coursework at Ranken Tech in Automotive Maintenance. From there, Mark worked for Ladue Automotive. Realizing he preferred working with people (not cars), Mark changed his focus to residential projects. He worked on various home remodeling jobs for Enterprise Demolition until starting work with one of St. Louis's largest construction companies, McCarthy Brothers, in March 2007. Mark worked for McCarthy as a laborer, where his responsibilities included materials management and loading and unloading trucks for major projects such as hospitals, refineries and parking garages through the Saint Louis Metropolitan area. In 2008, Mark was McCarthy’s #1 Team Leader in fundraising for the American Heart Association.

Hobbies: Mark joined the Lemay Corkball Club in 2006 and the team quickly became district champs. He is also the MVP of his Fuzzball League, with a .592 batting average, at the South Broadway Athletic Club. Mark’s other hobbies include fixing cars, working out, spending time with friends, The St. Louis Cardinals, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mark got married in June 2013, and now lives with his wife and 2 dogs!

Favorite type of construction project: “It’s always fun to convert a basement into a ‘man space,’ but honestly, doing a kitchen or bath is the most gratifying. There’s nothing better than seeing a customer enjoy their new space. It’s like we make their visions a reality.”
